Megan and Keaka, May 13th
I just love weddings.
The beauty:

The drama:

The love:

And the fun:

What's not to love? Megan and Keaka got married at the very photogenic
Landmark Theater in Tacoma. Keaka is from Hawaii, and so they incorporated some of the Hawaiian traditions into their ceremony (such as presenting each other's parents with leis).

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Infrared!
So, I just got a new toy for Christmas (yes, for Christmas)-- it's an Infrared SLR. I am busy experimenting with it, to figure out how best to use it. Infrared cameras see beyond the normal spectrum of light that humands can see, and can give pictures a kind of glowy, otherwordly appearance. Here is a site describing more about infrared:
Photo Tidbits.
I got to play with my new toy some when we went to visit the
Museum of Flight, as we wanted to check out the place before we photograph Betty and Josh's wedding there this coming weekend. I had never been to the Museum of Flight before, and I thought it was pretty cool. Here are a few of the pictures from my new camera (with the superwide 8mm lens):

I am so excited about photographing Betty and Josh's wedding there tomorrow!

New Offering
Rathbone Images now offers boudoir sessions. A special private gift for your fiance, or just something fun to do for yourself, boudoir sessions are private, laid-back portrait sessions in which you can reveal only as much as you want. You may have just a female photographer (Priscilla) or both of us (Bob and Priscilla). We help you feel comfortable in expressing yourself, showing off your best features, and revealing just as much or as little as feels right to you. Here are a couple of pictures from a recent session:

We always have a pre-session consultation, where we can collaborate and brainstorm a plan for the session. Then, during the session, we just have fun, with the full knowledge that the pictures are completely private, until you decide otherwise. My primary goal is to make you feel comfortable, and then to make you feel beautiful.
Call (206-898-2507) or e-mail (Priscilla@Peoplearebeautiful.com) anytime to schedule your session!

Happy Anniversary, Jen and Clint!
Jennifer and Clint got married on May 21st, 2005 at
the Coast Hotel in Bellevue. Jen and Clint were one of those couples that seemed perfectly matched and totally comfortable together. We really enjoyed photographing their wedding:

Happy Mother's Day!
Hi Everyone,
Happy Mother's Day! Although we love weddings, families and kids are awfully cute too. We recently had a family session with Julie, Robert, Audrey, and Jackson. We photographed Julie and Robert's wedding in November, and they just welcomed their adorable baby boy in March. We got to take pictures of them in April at their home, and we had so much fun!

Antwanette and Brandon
We have been having a lot of fun with engagement sessions lately. Antwanette and Brandon, who are getting married July 1st, were so naturally affectionate and cute together that they were a pleasure to photograph. They came to our "home studio," where I got to use the red wall (usually covered with wedding pictures) and
Matthews Beach Park, which practically doubles as our front yard. Here are a few of my favorites from their session:

Thanks, Antwanette and Brandon!

WPJA
We just applied for and were accepted into the Wedding Photojournalists Association:
WPJA. We are very excited! WPJA refers clients to us who particularly desire and appreciate a more candid, photojournalistic approach to wedding photography. Although there are certain situations in which we might give some guidance to clients about posing (for example, during the formals or portrait sessions), for most of the day, we like to document what really hapens on your day. Our philosophy really is that people are beautiful, that you are beautiful, in everything that you experience on your wedding day. From the joy you feel at first seeing your spouse-to-be in their wedding attire, to the poignancy of the kiss your father gives you before he walks you down the aisle, to the playfulness of your flowergirl, to the warmth of being surrounded by family and friends, this is your day, and we want to capture it your way. Down to the very last detail.

Michelle and Zac, April 8th
We were so excited to photograph Michelle and Zac's wedding. I should actually say "weddings," as they had a japanese tea ceremony on Saturday, April 8th, and a western ceremony on Sunday April 9th. A very cute couple who were obviously much in love, Zac and Michelle were a joy to photograph.
For the tea ceremony, and pictures following, Michelle wore several different
kimonos. The kimonos were so beautiful and the rituals of putting on the robes, and the tying, made for lots of yummy detail pictures:

Here is the bride's sister, who performed the tea ceremony:
