Happy Anniversary, Michelle and Zac!

Michelle and Zac had two ceremonies in two days-- on April 8th, they had a Japanese tea ceremony to honor Michelle's mother. Complete with kimonoes and chanting, it was a touching way to celebrate. Then, on April 9th, they had a more traditional Western ceremony, still with a lot of Japanese flavor.

On April 9th in Kerry Park:

The wedding and reception was held at Kaspar's Catering:

Congratulations on your one-year anniversary, Michelle and Zac!

Wedding Trends

There are so many decisions to make about the style of your wedding. I found some articles on the web about current wedding trends, especially wedding dresses. Although the elegant white or champagne dress is beautiful and classic, many brides are starting to incorporate some color into their dresses, which adds another layer of personal style to the details of the wedding (and is fun to photograph too!).

When I first got engaged, one of the first things I started thinking about was my wedding dress. I eventually decided on a handmade dress by Cicada, as they do wonderful, individualized, custom work. It had a purple velvet corset bodice and a cream brocade full skirt. I thought I might wear the top again :), but only did once, on our honeymoon cruise.

Here is a recent interesting article from the Seattle Times:

There are many considerations to make when choosing your dress. Is your wedding more traditional or more informal? Do you want to have a train? If you have a train, make sure that you practice the bustle several times, so that it will be quick and easy on your wedding day. Do you want to go strapless or have sleeves? Although strapless is very "in" right now, it does not suit all body types (and is very important to get fitted correctly). Are you planning to wear a veil? I absolutely love playing with a veil for pictures, but if you want to keep it simple, you may prefer a tiara or flowers. It is important to think about your own personal style and what will make you feel the most comfortable and be the most flattering to you! I hope these articles help you in your search for the perfect dress.
