Mariana and Dan, August 11th

Mariana and Dan had a wonderful ceremony and reception at The Woodmark Hotel. The girls started in one of the hotel's huge rooms (also the honeymoon suite). Each of the bridesmaids had a dress in a different style and color, a new trend I've noticed that I love. It added to the fiesta feel of the event. Mariana's family is from Mexico, and she incorporated many little touches that referred to her heritage.

Here are the girls getting ready:

Mariana carried her grandmother's bouquet, which had been preserved for over 25 years!

Their ceremony was held outside, under a tent:

We took Mariana and Dan out on the dock for some romantic couple pictures:

Cristina and Eric, August 4th

Cristina and Eric got married at the beautiful Molly Ward Gardens in Poulsbo. They currently live in Canada but used to be Seattleites, so decided to have their wedding here. Remember to click on any picture to see it larger.

Here there are having their "first meeting" before the ceremony. So cute:

The groomsmen brought beanies for their formals, so we decided to have some fun:

The beautiful bride under the shade of a tree:

I love this little boy who looks extremely bored before the ceremony starts:

The ceremony was so sweet:

Some more fun formals. She had to really reach for the kiss, but they did make it:

There were so many toasts at this wedding, as everyone wanted to wish the happy couple well:

Walking hand in hand, towards their happily ever after:

The dancing continued late into the night (or until they closed the place down!), with almost everyone taking part:

Congratulations, Eric and Cristina. I hope everything is great in Canada!

Happy Anniversary, Yong and Doug!

We went with Doug and Yong to Gasworks Park for some pre-ceremony pictures:

And here they are in Luna Park where they had their touching ceremony:

I call this one "sleeping beauty:"

Yong changed into a Chinese style dress for the reception. I just love when brides incorporate traditions from their heritage.

Happy Anniversary, Doug and Yong!

Jessie and John, July 29th

We had such a great time photographing Jessie and John's wedding at The Inglewood Golf Club in Kenmore. Everything was perfect, including the weather (perfect for pictures, anyway-- it was a lovely overcast day ;)).

I just loved the girls' makeup-- Jessie herself is a professional makeup artist. The bridemaids looked just great:

The guys didn't look too bad either:

Jessie and John had their "first meeting" in the courtyard, by the fountain:

A few "formals:"

The gorgeous bride after she put on her birdcage veil:

The ceremony:

The rings:

Their romantic and super-fun reception:

Thanks so much for having us photograph your wedding, John and Jessie, and congratulations!

Dresses

Check out the Martha Stewart Weddings Blog for a report that dresses with spaghetti straps are showing up on the runways:

Martha Stewart Blog

Yay! Let's hear it for the non-tug dress! Still attractive but without all that annoying hoisting all day. :)

We are winding down for the season, so I plan to catch up on my blogging. And we will be at the NW Banquet and Events Bridal Show on November 3rd. It should be a great show, so drop by and check us out!

Rebecca and Jesse, July 21st

Rebecca and Jesse got married at the The Woodland Park Zoo, in the Butterfly Garden. Although they were hoping for nice weather, it poured that evening. However, that did not interfere with their guests having a great time, their ceremony being so sweet, and their wedding being absolutely beautiful. After all, rain on the wedding day is supposed to be good luck! Here is their flower girl being cute with her sunflower bouquet (remember to click on any picture to see it larger):

The rain also made us get extra creative with the photography, so we took some formals under a huge rock by the jaguar's cage (unfortunately the jaguar, who was lounging there earlier and would have made a great backdrop, had gone inside), and brought them to the Carousel for some super fun couple pictures:

Rebecca wanted to make sure I got a close-up of the unique boutinniers which she designed and put together:

The diffused light under the tent was absolutely gorgeous:

An unconventional family portrait:

Their ceremony was full of emotion:

The rings:

The reception was really fun, and made even cosier by the rain outside:

Congratulations, Jesse and Rebecca!

Things to Look For in Your Wedding Photographer

Mark Eric has a great post over on his blog of things to look for in your wedding photographer:

Things to Look For

My favorite is:

"5. Look for a photographer who offers engagement sessions as well as bridal and newlywed sessions. The engagement and bridal give you an opportunity to work with your photographer in a more relaxed atmosphere before your big day. This can come in very helpful- especially if you tend to be a bit camera shy. Establishing a good working relationship with your photographer is an important factor in producing great images together."

We love to do engagement sessions, because it's great to hang out and get to know our couples better before we photograph them on the most important day of their lives. It really helps people to feel comfortable in front of the camera, especially grooms who may think the whole idea is a little silly. By the end of the session, they tend to be converted into big fans of ours :).

Not only do we get to know our couples a little better, but I can also test out angles and lenses to see which work for different people. For example, some people look great when photographed from above, some from straight on, while others have a super attractive profile. The engagement session gives us a chance to try out lots of different stuff, and find out what works best for you.

Also, when couples see the pictures from the pre-wedding session, they feel reassured that we will do a great job on their wedding day!

Check out his list for more great suggestions.
